Hosts/Hostesses required!

The position is ideal for someone who is organised and energised. As well as being there for the guests, ensuring their comfort, and foreseeing their needs, there is the housework and upkeep of the boat interior, preparing the table and serving the meals.

Being a host/hostess on a barge can be very enjoyable for someone who enjoys meeting people and looking after them, who can get on with cleaning chores, and who has an aesthetic eye and a sense of pride, who can be rewarded by beautifully arranged flowers, shining brass, and immaculate bathrooms.

There are three main areas of responsibility - clients, interior housework and housekeeping. The hostess should seem to always be there for the guests. She should be presentable, polite, friendly and easily approachable, such that the guests appreciate her as their primary point of contact among the crew. For this the guests are, and rightly so, very appreciative.

Requirements

There are no specific qualifications but you must have the personality and characteristics to cope with this position.
 
You'll need to be relatively fit and somewhat inexhaustible, passionate about customer service of the highest quality.
 
You should be a fastidious housekeeper - you'll probably be the kind of person that keeps a lot of lists - able to run a tight ship (or barge).

Being constantly in contact with customers you'll need a fun, relaxed and engaging personality, the ability to put people at ease and show them a good time on the waterways.

A full clean driving licence is also essential.
