Island life, come and try it!
This post would be perfect for somebody who enjoys working with children but would also like a bit of job variety. We would also consider applications from couples as we have other jobs on the farm available.
We are looking for somebody to join our team for 1 year, spending half your time looking after our 2 children (Rosie, 5, and Piran, 3) and the rest of the time working just next door at our flower farm, either in the office taking flower orders or in the packing shed grading and packing the flowers.
On an average day you might start at 8.30am, take Rosie to school and then spend the morning, leading play activities / going for a walk / going to playgroup (or all three!) with Piran. Give Piran his lunch at noon, have your lunch break between 1 and 2, then work until 5.30 at the farm.
Both children are bright, normal children who enjoy playing outside and exploring their island. |

St Martin's has a permanent population of 120, one pub and a shop. You must be happy to live in a small but very friendly, isolated community.
You must enjoy spending time with children and have plenty of ideas for creative play both inside and out doors. Formal childminding qualifications would be an advantage but are not essential.
You need to be reasonably flexible, working hours will be 39 to 44 hours/week but your pattern of work will vary.
You must be able to commit to a 1-year contract: Piran will start school in September 2009.
You must have a working level of spoken English and if you wish to work in the farm office, English as a first language.
You will also be expected to carry out some domestic duties to help with the running of the household and looking after the children. |
