Description

Earn qualifications whilst training to become an Outdoor Activity Instructor!

You will assist qualified instructors on delivery of activity sessions this enables you to train and gain logged hours towards coaching awards and where/when qualified you will deliver activity sessions yourself with remote supervision to a basic level within standard operational procedures

All trainee instructors will be given the opportunity to take part in the following development opportunities subject to holding the necessary prerequisite.
 
These courses fees are included in the course:
  • BCU 1 Star assessment
  • BCU 2 star assessment
  • BCU 3 star sea training/ assessment
  • BCU Level 1 paddle sports coach or Level 2 Training Paddle sports coach as appropriate. 
  • NCFE Level 2 Bushcraft Survival and Wilderness Living Skills
  • Mountain Training Hill and Moorland Leader Award
  • First Aid in the Outdoors
  • On site abseiling and climbing site specific training and assessment 
  • RLSS National Water Safety Management Award
  • RYA Level 2 Power boat course
  • Archery Basic Instructor Award
  • NSRA Tutor Diploma Single Pitch Award Training (This climbing course is subject to you having the necessary pre requisite experience) Check MLTE website for exact prerequisites.
All courses are subject to participants reaching the required standards.
 
Where practical we believe in our instructors obtaining real National Governing Body Awards to support the in house training we offer: Success on the above courses would depend on past experience, personal ability, ability to learn and personal commitment.

Other courses which may be run subject to demand and ability of students:
  • RYA seamanship skills, RYA Assistant Instructor, RYA safety boat training and assessment
  • Sea kayaking expedition
  • Mountaineering Expedition Isle of Skye or similar

Requirements

Applicants should be able to demonstrate an interest in working with young people and have some experience of outdoor activities.
  • You must be a minimum of 18 years old
  • Be able to obtain 3 good references & a clear police check (CRB check) 
  • Interest in outdoor activities 
  • Have a proven interest in working with young people 
  • Have a flexible a positive approach 
  • Must be able to swim at least 200m in open water 
  • Must be physically fit and healthy and have a robust constitution 
  • Have an ability to make sensible, mature judgements

  • Awareness of each child's differing levels and abilities
  • Caring attitude to each and every child
