Description

For young people, teachers, group leaders and parents, PGL is the UK’s leading outdoor education provider, delivering inspirational learning through adventure. We are currently looking to recruit an Maintenance Manager at Osmington Bay our activity centre situated on the Jurassic Coast with fantastic views across the bay to Weymouth and Portland. A diverse and busy operation with over 1050 guests and approximately 270 staff.
 
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this key position will be responsible for managing a team of seasonal Centre Support Assistants, Grounds and Maintenance technicians, supported by a permanent Team Leader.
 
Key responsibilities include:
·         All aspects of day-to-day site/grounds maintenance, including evening support;
·         Ensuring safe working practices at all times;
·         Ensuring the team delivers the highest levels of customer service at all times;
·         Plant management and utility management;
·         Supporting centre development and strategic plans;
·         Complying with all statutory and in-house requirements;
·         Controlling cost effectively, operating within agreed budget parameters; 
·         Responding and managing emergency situations such as boiler breakdowns, power outages etc;
·         Liaising and developing effective working relationships with the Area Property Manager, contractors, suppliers and statutory authority representatives;
·         Facilitating the departments HR functions including rota and holiday planning, training, workplace monitoring and staff reviews;
·         Liaising daily with guests, staff and department heads;
·         Assisting with centre specific duties associated with a residential children’s activity centre including meetings and duty management responsibilities.

Requirements

 
Previous experience of facility maintenance and team management are essential prerequisites as is a proven flexible and ‘hands on’ approach towards this role. Existing trade skills, proven IT competence and valid driving licence would also be advantageous.
